The purpose of this course is to provide Independent Investigations Office (110) Officers with an overview of the steps involved to investigate impaired driving for both drugs and alcohol. With the implementation of Bill C-46, the new legislative changes to the Criminal Code will be discussed. The participants will also gain familiarity with impaired driving detection and the various ASD/Breath/Blood Demands available to them including Blood Warrants. The approved screening device (ASD), the Standardized Field Sobriety Test (SFST) and Drug Recognition Expert procedures will also be demonstrated and discussed.
